Well, you pays your money and you chooses your standard.

There are flame wars on these topics on the various newsgroups.

No argument that BIND is the de-facto standard. If we start to discuss
how well it follows relevant RFCs -- well, that's another matter. Even
in the Linux/Unix world, tinydns/djbdns is a fairly major competitor and
it's author talks about the "thousands" of holes in BIND's
implementation of DNS.

Dear Jerod,

As far as I know, Microsoft's implementation of DNS is not fully up to
standards. As you know, ole'Microsoft likes it their way only.
Therefore, its highly not recommended to use their DNS servers !!

So what we do is install the standrads based DNS Server: BIND.
It FREE and available on the net for download. I suggest you do not use
Windows DNS and instead install and use this standards based DNS server
(BIND) where they have a version for Windows servers. I used it on
Windows NT Servers and 2000 Servers with no issues.

Regards..

Do any of you have any experience setting up a Windows 2003 DNS Server
as an ISP based solution? We have some old DNS servers we need to
upgrade and we are going to use 2003 DNS and I would like to know what
pitfalls to watch out for.
