Thomas Crown Affair was nicely re-made.

Some would say Godfather 2 was superior to 1, but it's splitting hairs as
both are great.
I'm going with Terminator 2 being better than 1. Both were good, IMHO.

|
|Not sure about the time frame there, but I'd have to say David
|Cronenberg's THE FLY remake was a far superior film than the original.
|
|Of course Cronenberg's film was - as is often the case with his films -
|a serious film presented in the guise
|of a "horror" film.
|
|The original, while a more faithful adaptation of it's original short
|story source, has become something of a high camp B movie, particularly
|it's closing, "Help me! Help me!" scene. To fully appreciate the 1950
|THE FLY, it really must be seen on the big screen to enjoy its various
|visual merits (flyvision, for example).
|
|Cronenberg's film carries just as much dramatic punch in black and white
|on a 10" TV.
|
|I can't imagine what a remake of THE OMEN can add, apart from more
|graphic special effects.
|
|Hollywood, of course, eats itself every 20 or so years.
