David and MOPO I think that trying to find sources can be misleading..
heres why.. Ill explain how the movie Poster distribution in reprint and original used to work

Various dealers like myself would get connections from people that worked in the business, or had mass amounts of posters.. these poster connections could come from about any plave concievable. PRINTERS in europe saw a great opportunity as Lawas on copyright are easy avoided.. they would send a person on a plane and open shop wholsaleing out of all kinds of places.. so when attys tryed to trace them they are gone.. Its been this way since 70s... also the original stuff comes from studio insiders.
and people that work at printers and NSS and studios,,
People like Greg Eggbert were the speculators that would buy massive quanties on a hunch and like stock traders hope that they would age like wine.. I was one of those thats why i had 100,000 posters My deal was that each month I had to buy whatever was left on shelves.. so i got good bad and ugly posters.. I know a guy that is still buying videos as he thinks he will get rich some day... I disagree on new titles.. and so i became selective as storage space and getting to them are tough. well on the reprints many dealers stockpile those too as they go out of print and a good title sells to general public.. I always like the reprints because i never liked leaving a person with a passion for film in the cold because they couldnt afford a original. However, I ve always told the buyer if i doubted its authenticity or if it was a reprint. Fact is ive seen countless dealers sell usually at live auction portal posters and the like for big bux.. also these cast signed posters.. I had a friend want one.. I told him i suspected it was a fraud yet he still paid 125.00 for a cast signed UNtouchables ! because people want to touch stardust.... much of the Business is about facade and illusions..And if you look at media the train wrecks are what people enjoy... not seeing Bambi eat oats.... they want Paris Hilton, and dysfunctional people like Murderers, and sex crazies and people out of control and spiraling.. I think because it makes thier own lives seem normal or tame in comparisson.. take a look at the biggest headlines and it was train wrecked lives... My point in all this is.. that many dealers bought up clusters of titles some reprint some original. and that many dealers trade for titles the other has to expand thier inventory .Many times i would have 1000 of a title and then trade out to get things i needed. In my case my entire inventory is a mixture of everything related to motion pictures from the equipment to artifacts, to books , stills, posters, you name it.. I even have stamps and stock from movie theatres ... because when i started there was only places like Cinemabilia in NYC, Ohlinger, Eddie Brandts , and a few more that had shops.. so I made it with a Hollywood decor and mixed all the mainstream liek portal and toys and cinema collectables like robots and star wars stuff along with Dw Griffith.. and projectors... I though it was a good fit.... and thats also why i stared making memorabilai products as it all seems relative.... when we close off customers by saying we only carry original posters we are limted in the scope. and exclude otherwise passionate interested people because of theier Financial means.. Thats why I would sell a 5-10 poster reprint... Plus from a marketing standpoint there are many more people with 10.00 out there then 10 K :) thats why is called mass market and why the days of a salon type poster shop has been tough as its hard to pay clerks, rent, inventory and make a buck these days. It can be done... and I know how to do it... but not sure i want to... because i already have been doing it since 1977... thats 30 years. ago... I was 20 when started damn time flys! and now my customers and dealer friends are retireing or croaking... and my memorys and experiance seem to be worth 10 cents and a cup of cold coffee these days!
hahaha well I think my train is coming....

** Thanks to everyone who replied -- publicly and privately -- to my earlier post about this. I'm especially grateful that David Lieberman sourced and identified the seller by name. In the years I've been on this list -- beyond the DePrenda and Hernandez and other scammers singled out -- it's still a rare thing to see people stand behind their assertions without fear of being sued. It's like watching a car wreck with some joining in and others staying on the sidelines, all w/varying points of view, some who dare to share while others choose to keep to themselves (sometimes wisely).

** It reinforces why "little MoPo" is still my Internet discussion list of choice. We've all had our battles over the years -- with bad buyers and bad sellers and list members behaving badly (myself included) -- toward each other -- but if only 3 discussion threads a year surface which haven't been previously covered -- it's worth staying on board. However, I don't mind re-hashing old issues like restrikes and repros because newbies to this list -- often don't get the respect they deserve -- or sometimes I sense they feel a little intimidated by the older voices who strike back with force.

** And BTW, for those who remember, I still believe J.R., who was infamous for his daily-multiple contrarian posts -- will someday be back. He won't announce it. He'll just show up.

it is a restrike, probably from the early to mid 80's.

the guy selling them, greg egbert knows it. He told me once he was going to take his remaining stock of them and fold them because he is having trouble se lling them.

they are virtually impossible to tell from originals because of only one color ink, black.

** This may be old news to everyone else (I'm always in a cave, buried under piles of work) -- but the following eBay auction caught my attention:

http://tinyurl.com/ywbhhs

** I'd like to know what your opinions might be about the possibility of this poster being "added" to the list of titles that have been reproduced but sold as vintage theatrical originals. I have collected the Style B Manhattan bridge in all formats for nearly 30 years. I have style B bridge inserts and half-sheets that are rolled -- and their authenticity has never been questioned.

** But I've never seen a rolled 1979 style B Bridge 27x41 one-sheet of "Manhattan." I have purchased 26x39 and 27x40 rolled reproductions and hung them in my offices throughout my career. But I've never come across a 27x41 ROLLED.

** Note the lack of NSS information in the image for this auction though the seller states this is a NSS poster. I asked the seller to identify the serial number in the bottom right corner for verification and he says it's there.

** Do ONE-SHEETS of this title with the NSS numbers "790072" exist in ROLLED condition? This film was hardly a box-office blockbuster and is more appropriately considered a cult favorite. I'd HATE the idea of this title being added to the list of suspicious 27x41 restrikes being sold as rolled originals.
