can you elaborate? I never thought that WC were made by a poster image being attached to a thicker card stock. I assumed that WC stock was a thicker card material that had a printable side,and the reverse was the non printable card side. The artwork was printed on the printable side, then the cards cut to size. If this is the case, then removing the back layer of the card is removing a large portion of the original material and the integrity is lost, to a degree. I certainly can see doing this procedure if the back of the card is moldy, stained, or severly damaged.. but considering that the image was not attached as a separate layer, a certain percentage of the original is lost.

When working with window cards, we remove the back layer card stock, this way the poster can be cleaned, washed and deacidified, which also results in removing any creasing/folds.
