I always have high hopes of a movie with Elisha Cook Jr or Marie Windsor in
the credits (for completely different reasons you understand...). And of
course The Killing has both, so it couldn't get much better.

If Santa does his job properly, a DVD of Asphalt Jungle should be heading
my way tomorrow (along with another ace classic Kiss Me Deadly). Since I
hadn't seen it for ages, I recorded it from the TV a couple of months ago,
only to discover it was a colorized version. Grrr; erased; item added to
Christmas present list. All this talk on MOPO recently has just whetted my
appetite even more. It's going to be a dark Christmas.

What I especially love about it is the ensemble of character actors who
really bring these desperate low-lifes to...life.
