We have an umbrella policy that covers losses. It can't be item by item because the items come and go so quickly!
The fair way to pay people would be to guess at what the items would auction for and then pay that amount minus what we would have received as a commission. That is what the sellers would have received had it been auctioned. Then we would try to get that amount from the insurance company, but we might get far less, and if that happened, it would be my loss. Like I said, it has only come up in a very tiny way in the past.
