>well to say who is and isnt a collector is debatable...
I consider the kid that saves a group of star wars fifures in s show
box a collector... these kids becaome the steven spiebergs of the
future.. and also collectors of the future... actually some of the
biggest collectors i met had hardly no collection as they where broke
and never had the resources for the collecting part... But to me they
where someof the best because the love and passion they had was
genuine... sure tere are some that are ego maniacs and haveto be on
top and own it all... but remember collectors die... and the way i
see it is a collector is a steward of the stuff not that they own
anything... Its great they save it and also when they get a rewrd for
saving it moment wize thats great as they didnt save it always for
finacial gain... although some do and investing can be tricky as it
can go south quick...as to the monster and sci fi posters... there
where some good entertaining films that filled many kids early
childhood, or date films etc... and all that from cowboy films,
thrillers, noir and all filled a genre that was not saved to well so
they became rare.... personall a image like that in reproduction if
printed well is fine with me... and also accessable to
everyone..which is great.. but some colectors want it to be a limited
accessabilty and to gain finacial gain... as to auction housesthey
are marketers and try to display and publicize the materials to have
the best represtation with slick catalogs and descriptions as to
tantalize prospective buyers.. I think thats great and heritage seems
to be a leader in that field... its reall the same explotation as
show biz ad agenctys do topromote the film.... its all show biz these
days wheter sellin houses , cars or sushi... yet .. whe n you
discover sincere passion and love from the artist or maker it always
just feels deeper and better,,, whether in a hand made musical
instrument or say a custom car...or fine art, or cabinet maker.. so
thats why in the final outcome its really a lifetime of events that
define the companys and the people that work in them... or even a
country... dont tell anyone but there are about 350 million
collectors... shhhhshhhhhh
