Thanks Ari
If I had the time I would certainly like to do more sooner than later
too. A lot of the content was gleaned and assembled from information
scattered across the 'net' or found by reading those door-stops we have
lying round now-a-days (the ones with things in them called pages). But
just as much was done by 'asking around' as it were. For instance the
article on Robert McGinnis, as well as my own research, was the result
of tracking down people in the 'know' not the least his son who was very
generous with his time and information (which I duly note at the bottom
of the article). Of course I have always welcomed email from more
knowledgeable collectors to set me on the path to enlightenment with
corrected information too. Sharing is caring.

Thanks, David- though you describe it as "a little bit," it's one of the more
comprehensive resources I've seen...which speaks to just how neglected this topic is.

Subject: Re: [MOPO] Original poster art?
There is a little bit on a few artists and their work here:

While there are plenty of discussion groups for, and dealers in, movie
posters, I've been able to find almost nothing in the way of resources
for those interested in obtaining, collecting and discussing the
original poster art - that is, the handmade, one of a kind paintings
by Struzan, Alvin, Corben, Davis, Bass, Amsel, etc., which are
typically combined with typography and other elements to become the
poster.
There's a terrific website at http://www.meansheets.com that actually
pays attention to who created the art for the posters; there's
http://www.artinsights.com, which deals in some original John Alvin
work, but I've found little else.
Is it hiding? Does it not exist? Or am I just the world's worst
searcher?
Thanks for any pointers.
