again i think that large auction houses deal "mainly" with people for who money is no problem and who do not realize/care about what they have to pay for shipping. Christies in London are on top for me . 2 years ago some posters they requested from me for one of their auctions somehow some months after having received them turned out to not be of their liking anymore due to minimum value Policy changes , they actually dared to send me an incredible quote for shipping them back to me . I told them i had already paid for sending them over and since they out of the blue decided months later they didn't want them no more it was for them to pay return shipping , this took weeks and i had to deal with several persons before they finally decided to return my posters . No Wonder their 'poster expert' was such a wanker too . filip Date: Sat, 21 Dec 2013 09:06:00 +1000 From: [email protected] Subject: Re: [MOPO] NT Delivery times on Posters To: [email protected]
Hi Wim I always thought that if a large auction house wants international bidders they should at least try and organise a decent shipping option for their customers. I used to buy quite a bit at auctions in London and usually was able to pick them up in person. However, on one occasion I had to have it sent and I couldnt believe the quote I received to send one poster to Australia. It meant that future bidding was just not possible because the cost of getting the item sent was so high. Its good that Heritage has their own shipping department and that is obviously a much better option than having to arrange postage through a third party. They leave it up to you to arrange shipping, despite the fact that they encourage interstate and international bidders. I recently bid on an auction interstate and it was considerably cheaper for me to pay for a flight and accommodation rather than pay the ridiculous fee that the third party packing agent wanted." John, that is a real SOB to find out. Had the same experience with auctions in Canada and Italy. Actually I have the problem right now. Ecxellent communication until I asked for the shipping arrangements. Now they are also closed for the Season. Sure hope I don't have to pay for a fight, usually I have a 4" height advance over Italians.
