This book tracked all living humans to a single african female ~120k years ago (I think) and a single african male ~60k years ago. Evidence presented in the book tracks the spread of humans from Africa to the Middle East to Europe, over the supposed land bridge to the Americas. The age is derived assuming an average number of mutations per generation and an average lifespan given environmental conditions of the group in question. I don't think there is an explicit statement on humans evolving from primates, but given the evidence presented, the book is fairly supportive of that theory.
