The Founding Fathers accomplished both. So did Marx. The results were
quite different.

As you note on occasion Marx seems to be alive and well in modern Europe. I
would say his influence has been positive.

Point taken. You appear to accept the tenets of Christianity as your moral 
compass, although I'm not exactly sure why other than it's a Western 
tradition -- not that there's anything wrong with that.

It would be foolish to reject the morality of your own society. Most who do
are called convicts. Also the Golden Rule is recognized in one form or
another as a moral precept in every culture on Earth. It is surprising to
find a rule that so many agree upon. I would submit that it is biologically
based.
