i disagree. faith is a knowledge complementary and
ultimately inclusive of intellectual truth. the
faith/science schism is only apparent because
arguments on both sides are usually naive and
inaccurate.
faith is a knowledge born of transcendent experience.
the intellect can only reflect upon this experience.
the experience itself, the nature of the experience is
the empirical 'data'.
i think faith is a strange subtle shifting thing; it
is constant, but it waxes and wanes too. any efforts
at trying to descry, via faith, the nature of the
transcendent are fraught. once we try and label that
which is illimitable we steer close to hubris and
invite the mordant humour of fate.
...better to treat the sacred as sacred.
you can't kick faith out of an essentially mystical metaphysics.
