Hi Ron, >Ron: >What makes you think they are not making judgments of intellectual >quality? >That they are not believing in certain things based on their own >standards?
Steve: People generally do believe things based on their own standards of intellectual quality. When they say, "you just have to have faith that the Bible is the word of God," after pointing out contradictions in the text, historical research on how the book was made, inconsistencies with what the person himself believes about the world, morality etc., it is because their own standards have failed them. People will freely admit that it doesn't make sense, but you have to have faith. The word only comes up (with respect to a given belief) when the person's own standards have failed. >Ron: >>Given what we know about MoQ, shouldn't Harris take his own advice >>And not claim to know things that he doesn't know? > >Steve: >What do you think I (or Harris) am saying I know that I really don't >know? > >Ron: >True reality. Steve: That's right. If anyone wants to know about true reality just ask me. Come on, where are you getting that idea? You can forget about ever getting that beer. Well, okay but you have to buy the first round after that comment.
