Re Marsha's "screw reason". Two points ... One, "reason" is indeed the problem ... remember the Church of Reason ... and I already mentioned Harris acknowledges that rationality / reason is a whole 'nother specturm of issues, once you've swept blind (intolerant / ignorant) faith out of the way. Two, Ron's word "intolerance", or the opposite "tolerance", is precisley the thought that was behind my "good faith" post. For the moment let me just throw a few other words into that pot (Need to read Arlo's post in that thread). "Tolerance", "Good Faith", "Grace", so far ... try these ... "Trust", "Fairness" (remember Pirsig dwelt on this), .... Love, tough love even, but love nevertheless ... We have some dots to join up. Ian Ian, Good thoughts, Arlo's post was a keeper and a recommended good read. Thinking about this, some people need their conceptual voodoo doll. An object to vent all their hate and pain on. They need it. I should know I bring out my psychic voodoo doll from time to time and vent all my hurt And anger on a concept I despise, I make the mistake of projecting It Onto people and things. Having learned this, I endeavor to be aware of the fact that this is what is happening and to really be rid of that baggage I need to embrace that part of myself and diminish it.
