Ron and whoever it may interest.

You had said (to Ham I believe)

Don't jump to conclusions, but in a sense the intellectual level IS
the individual level, and since it is "out of" the social level, and
regards it as its "enemy", intellect in the same sense is "the value
of the sociol/individual divide.

But the individual existed with separate identity, name, property,
fame and fortune - all things we connect with individuality for tens
of thousand of years without this enabling it to transcend the
social level (many cultures has to this day not yet transcended it)

It took a leverage point outside the social reality to perform that
operation and that's described in ZAMM as the
discovery/invention of a reality that goes deeper than the social-
mythological (god-based) one. It began by the seemingly
innocent search for eternal principles, this became the great
principle called Truth ...and the rest is history (ZAMM)

But now, as a result of the growing impartiality of the
Greeks to the world around them, there was an increasing
power of abstraction which permitted them to regard the
old Greek mythos not as revealed truth but as imaginative
creations of art. This consciousness, which had never
existed anywhere before in the world, spelled a whole
new level of transcendence for the Greek civilization.

To regard intellect as the individual versus society is a half-baked
MOQ. It's as seen from within the intellectual level - from SOM -
using MOQ's vocabulary without having entered the MOQ in
earnest.

In my opinion.
