[Steve] I guess that's the situation we are in until God tells us what our rights are.
[Arlo] I find it funny that Christians are so quick to claim "freedom of assembly" to be a right "endowed by God", and yet you think their God would've mentioned all this in the Old or New Testements. Why didn't Moses descend from Mt. Sinai with "The 10 Unalienable Rights"? Jesus did a lot of preaching, and I don't recall a "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness" parable. If he was God's son, and he was teaching us about God's will, you think all this about habeus corpus and freedom of the press would've come up at some point. These "rights", of course, do not derive from "God". They come from us. They are intellectual patterns that people have determined are best for balancing the static and dynamic forces of the social level.
