Chris, SA, I agree with both of you. Too much cowboys and indians, arguments with winners and losers, rather than constructive win-win collaboration. Both (all) sides share the blame, if anyone were interested - I'm not.
"The" Dalai Lama is not a person, but a spiritual leadership (and now nationalist leadership) role. I'm sure the individual in those roles is a very nice buddhist-monkish person, lots of evidence that he is.
