Hi Platt

The state should be a co-operative venture,
where we keep binding laws to an agreed
minimum, if we are wise. Generally it seems
to be the tool of elites, at best struggling
with each other to give us some balance of powers
perhaps. I think I hope that such co-operation
can deliver more than you do and you fear it
leads to too much state control, but different
polities should be free to choose how far they
want to balance co-operative gains against
individual freedoms that require levels of
autonomy and self-reliance that perhaps modern
ways of life have made too difficult or even too
low in living standards.
