Matt said to Ian:
I'm sorry to disappoint, but DMB made it quite clear that he thinks I'm being
disingenuous when I converse with him and that I'm being a little hypocritical
with my whole "quality conversation" thing. Because our conversations almost
always devolve into cat-and-mouse, attack and defend polemics that use far more
ethos and pathos then logos, rather than continue a pattern that neither one of
us enjoys, I'm ceding the ground to him that I'm a hypocrite and backing out of
the low quality conversation.

dmb says:
Ha! You dismiss my point as pointless even when my point is that you dismiss my
point as pointless. That's funny. You know, in a slap-stick, cringe-humor kind
of way.

Matt also said:
I don't have a taste for dog-fights anymore. I may have once, but not anymore.
Now I just want to talk about philosophy. Talk, not fight. Arguments aren't
fights, but somehow I always feel like I'm fighting when I talk to DMB. I
haven't wanted to fight with him in a long time.

dmb says:
How is it that defending the MOQ (or myself) against charges of Platonism
doesn't count as philosophy? Clearly, you don't like to be pressed too far and
at a certain point you tend to bail out but do you really have to inflate my
annoyance out of all proportion to justify that? You make charges and I answer
them. I make charges and you walk away complaining about the tone. And you know
why it always feels like "fighting" when you talk to me? Simply because we
disagree about stuff. I really don't see what's wrong with that. That's what
people, especially philosophers, have always done. Unless you have plans to
move to another planet, you might want to adjust yourself to that fact.

By the way, I think there's nothing more fun than a real fight.

You can suit yourself, of course.
