To perceive we need to be able to integrate sensory experience and in this process we detect patterns. We do this from the moment of our birth until the hour of our death. Isn't this "more like a tree or a river system or a highway system, or a nervous system or lungs" structure imputed by your mind? I don't find it as significant a structure as you.
