Platt, What I believe you are stating is Pirsigs description of how SOM is tearing itself apart with it's own intellectual level in conflict with it's social level. We, here at the discuss, all agree on this issue. The assertions of Nihilism vs. social morality have paralyzed the culture intellectually and socially. But we know better don't we? we know why. And we know how to fix it. It's getting past the SOM war that is the problem. Social morals have intellectual meaning they have biological purpose. You understand this, so do I, and so does Arlo. The argument you and Arlo engage in seems to be a personal one, the one Pirsig says is Paralyzing the culture the one MoQ rectifies and disperses. It vanishes under the MoQ glasses. Perhaps we can all put our MoQ glasses on and see this problem for what it is, an SOM-conflict.
