[Ham] I can only say that a philosophy which doesn't acknowledge a purpose for human existence is deficient.
[Arlo] Is it only "human existence" that has a "purpose"? What do you suppose is the "purpose" of canine existence? How would "man's purpose" be any different than "dogs' purpose"? Did Neanderthal man share this purpose? Do the Maori share it? I take it you bestow upon man some grandiose purpose, what if our cosmic purpose is merely to create a strata of fuel for a future civilization, sharing this purpose with the dinosaurs who seem to have only served this purpose? (If not, what other purpose did they have?) Could this _not_ be our purpose? Why? "Purpose" is simply the story we tell ourselves. In that sense, "human existence" has no purpose, but my life does, as does yours, and they likely serve two very distinct purposes (although perhaps not nearly as distinct as with a Maori). http://www.despair.com/mis24x30prin.html Moq_Discuss mailing list Listinfo, Unsubscribing etc. http://lists.moqtalk.org/listinfo.cgi/moq_discuss-moqtalk.org Archives: http://lists.moqtalk.org/pipermail/moq_discuss-moqtalk.org/ http://moq.org.uk/pipermail/moq_discuss_archive/
