gav:  awareness does not presuppose *a being*. it does presuppose *being*.
do you notice the difference? 
one is a verb - being (dynamic); one is a noun (a being - static).

I am personally agnostic on which is the "better" term. I believe a real
existentialist; the kind that really pops the veins in Ham's forehead; would
say that awareness presupposes existence. Or they might invert it and say,
existence precedes essence.
