Actually, you could say that morality gets less despotic through the
evolutionary process.  President Bush would be exhibit "A" in that case.
His sort of advancement of  individual liberty is mocked with refrains of 
"Bush lied, people died" by the Marxist appeasers. That's a pretty good way 
to draw the line between social and intellectual level morals.
