Let's start with the moment in time when the first, primitive, biological patterns appeared. An amoeba? A virus? Mold spores? Whatever you want it to be for now. So, when the first spores appeared, how does "spontaneous emergence from increased complexity" not explain that? Give me an alternative explanation? Did the carbon atoms "intend" to make the spores?
