Marsha: Matisse's paintings are paintings I've always loved, but I don't not know why. Color? Texture? Don't know. I like his paintings so much more than his rival, Picasso's. - I'm a thousand times blessed to even to be painting, and I appreciate it.
Andre; Dear Marsha, I'll not pretend I know much about painting but the thing that strikes me about Matisse is his (for want of a better word) loaded simplicity of form and colour. It looks so easy and playful, almost as if it could have been produced by a child...but we know it is 'beginners mind'. There is so much in it. He was a remarkable artist and I am sure, human being.
