Been painting... I have a book of Matisse's paintings. It's his entire catalog of work, mostly small black and white photos in the back of the book. Even in b&w they are gems of pattern. One huge pattern I noticed was that about 70% of them are nude women. In thinking about this, I have come to the conclusion that I should have the same privilege (outside the classroom) to paint nude men. So what's stopping me. I have a feeling it is easier for gay men to paint nude men than it is for women to paint nude men.

Is this hesitation one of those automatic reactions that should be broken?

Having a wonderful time painting. Matisse is a wonderful teacher.
