Dear Marsha, I'll not pretend I know much about painting but the thing that
strikes me about Matisse is his (for want of a better word) loaded
simplicity of form and colour. It looks so easy and playful, almost as if it
could have been produced by a child...but we know it is 'beginners mind'.
There is so much in it.
He was a remarkable artist and I am sure, human being.
