I hope (don't believe) Mel isn't being as dogmatic as Gould in
excluding the middle.

There is no reason why scientists cannot study religious phenomena any
more that the religious cannot interpret the claims of science. The
two still have to recognize that their perspectives and bases of
belief may be quite different and conflicting even, but that's not the
same as creating no-go areas for each other.

In fact, the fact that their bases and world-views are conflicting
suggests that neither is the fundamental view. (Which is why we're
here on MoQ-Discuss)
