Hey Andre,
I think Michael is approaching this pragmatically, the question being
"is theism usefull in a Quality way?"    sure, but it also perpetuates
objectivism (SOM) which is the downside which ultimately will
interfere with a quality understanding of what MoQ proposes.
In effect when it comes right down to the major abstract concepts
and their understanding, the two will conflict. This is what needs
to be expressed to him..
Utimately essentialism is the problem.

... that God (and I'm happy to substitute Pirsig's "Quality") will work us
in a good ("quality") direction if we remain open and accepting of it when
we see it in our daily lives'.

Andre:
Michael, you are suggesting that quality 'does' something. This is
completely misunderstanding... . Quality does not cause or do anything.
It seems your god does...fine... but please, in this process do not
substitute the one for the other. Theism, of any description or conception
misses the point completely.

MP;
But lest just keep in mind that in many ways believing in "Quality" is
bordering on theism.

Andre:

I like to think of myself as an MoQ'er but I do not believe in Quality. This
is the same as saying I believe in air, fairies, leprechauns, gravity, John
Lennon.
How can one believe in something that cannot be defined?
How can you believe in something outside of yourself Michael? Think about
this very carefully please.

For what it is worth.
