Thanks to Marsha everybody knows that Pirsig said: "The MOQ would add a fourth stage where the term "God" is completely dropped as a relic of an evil social suppression of intellectual and Dynamic freedom. The MOQ is not just atheistic in this regard. It is anti-theistic."
MP replied: ...Does the MoQ's anti theistic nature demand anti-theistic responses to theism in seeking Quality in a theistic world? Is anti-theism the way to covercome theism in an MoQ approach just because the MoQ is itself anti-theistic? My current feeling is no; it does not demand it, and in fact IMO anti-theism in a theistic context is anti-quality from an MoQ POV. dmb says: Well, I don't know that the MOQ "demands" anything. But intellectual honesty and some logical coherence would sure be nice. On top of the quotes Marsha dug up for us, there is quite a lot said about religion in Lila too. I mean, the MOQ has quite a lot to say about the category of experience from which religions spring, about the problems with the static dogmas that choke and smother this and even about the connections between religious beliefs and insanity. It's really quite rich. Maybe if you spent some time thinking about these things I'd be a little more interested in discussing them with you. I don't know that this would help or if you'd enjoy that. But I'm just not interested in any further discussions because, frankly, I think you're being disingenuous, childish and irrational. Pirsig says that from an intellectual and dynamic perspective theism is evil and yet you can "feel" that it's anti-quality to be against it here? Dude, that's gotta be one of stickiest piles of bullshit I ever smelled. _________________________________________________________________ Windows Live™ Hotmail®:…more than just e-mail. http://windowslive.com/explore?ocid=TXT_TAGLM_WL_t2_hm_justgotbetter_explore_012009 Moq_Discuss mailing list Listinfo, Unsubscribing etc. http://lists.moqtalk.org/listinfo.cgi/moq_discuss-moqtalk.org Archives: http://lists.moqtalk.org/pipermail/moq_discuss-moqtalk.org/ http://moq.org.uk/pipermail/moq_discuss_archive/
