Reason as commonly understood in western culture, is the use of analytics.
Analytics is a particular method of abstract thought
which utilizes rules and axioms of operation. Axioms are assumed as true and are
the basis for the system of operation. The worth or merit being in the
correlation
of the predictions it provides with expereince.
Reason, is defined in many ways by many cultures.
Reason is explaination, The basis or motive for an action, decision, or
conviction.
The stoics argued that emotions emerge from reason and are controlable, that
sensual
pain and reflexive stimuli are filtered through reason generating emotion. We
must
ask our selves, does anger arise from pain? or does anger arise from the
reflection
of relexive pain. Reflection being a universal earmark of abstract thought or
intellect
in human expereince.
