to explain DQ in reductionistic, materialistic terms. If the hot stove example 
was meant to be a discussion of physiology he could have just said it was 
instinct and the sense of touch that gets you off the stove. This is not wrong, 
so much as beside the point. Yes, he's saying that the sense of quality is 
completely natural and non-intellectual, as even Arlo's dog knows, but 
biological responses to Quality are just one of the ways of responding. Not 
that I've ever walked on hot coals. But I have napped in the sun.
