Ron, Perhaps you are right. It's hard for me to see all your points because I don't have this negative history with Platt's comments that you and others express with such distaste.
You say "it's as if" about Platt's arguments. Regardless of "as if", I would like to dig down to find out "what is" Platt's real problem with voluntary collectivism.
