[Craig]
I think we should confine the term ‘socialism’ to the economic realm. Your
example, is one of ‘social engineering’.

[Arlo]
OK, fair enough. So you'd say that laws attempting to define marriage as
between "a man and a woman" are an example of "social engineering"?

[Craig]
If marriage laws were just starting, I think gender should be irrelevent.
However, I'm leary of applying thousands of case law to gay marriage.

[Arlo]
We overcame a lot when we allowed marriage between a black and a white. Seemed
to not cause any problems for me.

But this is an argument I just don't get. You seem to be saying that even
though something is immoral, we shouldn't rock the boat if it means extra work
for the legal system.

[Craig]
I think we should experiment with different forms of partnership: marriage,
civil union, usw.

[Arlo]
Personally I think the state should only concern itself with "civil unions",
let "marriage" become just a "church" term.
