Hi Ron,
And isn't this the problem of many types patterns. So running on
automatic are these patterns that a fresh evaluation of an
experience/event is never considered. What was liberating for me was
to understand the nature of all patterns, and letting them take
second place importance whenever possible. When caught in a
difficult pattern-loop, it becomes easier to label it 'conceptually
constructed pattern', drop it, and move on for a more direct
experience. I find the sweeping dismissal works far better than
trying to combat every instance.

John,

What do you do with people locked in thought traps, burning in

People have the power to infuence expereince and most are not aware

Interesting right now with a holocaust denier so much in the news...
What it has led me to wonder is the proper role of ostracism. If we deny
the hater his speech, isn't that just more likely to force him into action?
Since this thread began with Nick, it's relevant to wonder if we don't
scapegoat others as a way of making ourselves look better, building group
unity in the name of ostracising whereas the higher quality way would be to
refine our intellectual tools of persuasion in the hopes that the lost might
be saved.
