you are  right.  The urge to convert is my own burden and it makes me
uncomfortable.  Another quote from the Scruton article made me pause and
consider the roots of my own motivation:

"All of us are tempted by the idea of flesh and by the desire to remake the
human being as pure flesh—an automaton, obedient to mechanical desires."


In this light, the urge to heal and convert others is, in myself,  an
impulse to control.  Which stems from an insecurity that does not appear
attractive and thus is doomed to failure.

This dang boddhisatva business is tougher than I'd thought.
