I know exactly what you mean, David, and I can see how my words would make you think "D" is one of those guys. But that's not really the way it is.
Especially the crack he made about jr. college. You could easily construe that as a sort of intellectual bullying. And while it might have had a slight edge there, it was really about a deeper schism concern on his part. His education was mainly in Seventh Day Adventist institutions and there is a certain mindset from those schools that gets passed on. Well, duh, that's what educational institutions do. Especially religious ones. His comment about my Sierra College education had more to do with my exposure to that worldly confusion of pagan ideas outside the safe confines of Adventism, and thus his concern for my soul. See, it's still a little bit condescending, to be considered a soul in need of saving, but then I'm looking at him in basically the same way, a poor lost soul wandering in SOM. So who am I to point fingers? But I look at the dialogue as an intriguing opportunity to try and convert, knowing it for the darned exercise in futile degeneracy that it is. We all need hobbies. What else goes on here most of the time but the effort to convert?
