dmb says: For the third time in as many exchanges, your thickness, Pirsig says, " Most empiricists deny the validity of any knowledge gained through imagination, authority, tradition, or purely theoretical reasoning. They regard fields such as art, morality, religion, and metaphysics as unverifiable. The MOQ varies from this by saying that the values of art and morality and even religious mysticism are verifiable, and that in the past they have been excluded for metaphysical reasons, not empirical reasons". Seriously, Krimel, what part of this don't you understand? Why do you respond to my answers by asking the same question again, as if I didn't just answer it? You seem like a smart guy and then you do shit like this. Making me post the same answer three times in a row is your idea of a practical joke, I guess. Either that or you're challenged in some way.
[Krimel] As you and several others have pointed out I have already had had too much to say on these matters. I honestly am beginning to question where you and I even speak the same language. On the one hand it's pretty obvious that we are lined up an opposite sides of the historic mind/body issue. I suspect that your position is so weak that you have nothing but labeling, obfuscation and ego puffery left. I will only be hitting a few of your more glaring absurdities in the next couple of posts. You offer a good example right here. You think you have answered questions about James' radical empiricism by quoting Pirsig. That is so patently absurd. Of course I haven't bothered to address your thrice quote and don't consider it an answer or even relevant. But since you think it is let me point out that "imagination, authority, tradition, or purely theoretical reasoning" are all rooted in sensory experience with the exception of theoretical reasoning which is not knowledge so much as the synthesis of knowledge. Art, morality and religion are all the subject of scientific study, and metaphysics is indeed generally avoided for all the reason Pirsig listed himself. I won't even bother to address your comments on reductionism since it is obvious you don't have a clue what you are talking about. As for the crack on flattery I can only say I have to flatter my self since don't have a peanut gallery to outsource that to.
