Platt thinks "political correctness" is "coercive stifling of opinion and
intrusive moralizing" and is "sanctioned by authorities in government, business
and academe who constantly preach tolerance, sensitivity, caring and
compassion. Attacks on dissenters, however, are not seen as a problem". Platt
also told us what these stifled dissenters would say if not for "intrusive
moralizing".,,
Platt said:
...let me challenge anyone to name mainstream colleges who allow voices to
argue that fundamentalist Christianity is admirable, or that Western culture is
superior to other cultures, or that woman's place is in the home, or that
homosexuality is a perversion, or that there are racial differences in
intelligence, or that the Holocaust is a fiction, or that universal health care
includes death panels, or that racial profiling has benefits, or that abortion
should be criminalized, etc., etc.

dmb says:

This just freaks me out. What sane person would defend male superiority, white
supremacy, genocide, lies, racism and religious fanaticism, let alone in a
philosophy forum? Is it just my subjective opinion or is Platt morally retarded
in some objective, scientific sense? But seriously, what kind of person feels
oppressed by so-called political correctness? Isn't is just about common
decency and respect toward others. The perspectives represented in Platt's list
all translate into the denigration of anyone who is not a god fearing American
white man who hates women, gays, blacks, jews and intellectuals. That's just
Platt's self portrait, I guess.

Dave the disgusted.
