Who had the last laugh when Hitler and his party were elected into
power following campaigns of fear and restoring national pride,
attacking the media and the academy, and establishing "Auslaender" as
the scorn of the morally superior German culture?
Of course, the idea of a "last laugh" is itself laughable. Did
democrats have the "last laugh" when Obama was elected? Is every
election a "last laugh"?
The pendulum of politics swings by the hand of fear, and it goes back
and forth and back and forth, to the right, to the left, to the
right, to the left.
The only people having any true "last laugh" are the ministers of
nightmare. The angry mobs they create have no right to laugh at all.
