Dan: Well, I was thinking more along the lines of an automatic response, kind of like shaking someone's hand when it is extended. Or, I have on occasion driven somewhere and upon arriving, I have no notion of actually driving there. It was like I was on autopilot. Or maybe even cooking my favorite soup recipe... I just know whart ingredients go into the soup without any real thought. I understand what you're saying... perhaps if we look at it this way... if I think: should I say Bless You, then it is an intellectual pattern. If I just say it, it is a social pattern. But most times the two are so intertwined that it is quite complicated to separate. Thoughts?
