Platt to Horse: In fact, now that I think about it:-), thinking is a process of constant interplay between DQ and SQ when words are first plucked out of thin air (DQ)...
Andre: 'Words plucked out of ...DQ'? Platt: Anyway, it's fun to think about thinking, then to think about thinking about thinking, then to think about thinking about thinking about thinking . . ad infinitum -- illustrating that thinking alone (including critical thinking) leads to a black hole of nonsense. Andre: And for someone steeped in and glorifying social level values at the cost of intellectual values it is no surprise it ends up in 'nonsense'.( see my previous post exposing the inconsistency you apply in your 'thinking' with regards to your critique of 'critical thinking' and your glorification of the free market system). And in response to your suggested arguing as to what is meant by 'critical thinking' as opposed to 'thinking',let's keep it simple Platt and take Pirsig's definition of the intellectual level as the 'skilled manipulation of...'. Obviously some are more skilled at this than others. It could even be argued that some people use social level values as reference point for their 'thinking' and some use the 'code of art' as reference point to their thinking. Perhaps this is the difference?
