As i see it, Horse is defending the obvious. Has no one here ever heard of
Freud? I mean, the distinction between biological instincts and the cultural
forms that tame and sublimate these instincts is very far from from being
unique to Pirsig. This distinction should already be understood by every
educated person in the Western world. There is a slim little book called
"Civilization and it's Discontents". Those who are arguing with Horse really
ought to look it up or maybe even read it.
