Marsha .. takes the MOQ's claims about the limits of language to be a
condemnation of language as such.
Arlo agreed:
Yes, and this is also evident in Mark's words about words being a form of
"imprisonment". I think she further confuses...
Marsha replied:
Not what I think at all... But you know that.
dmb says:
If that's not what you think, then why did you say, "Mark has it right,
'words' are a kind of imprisonment." Those are your words and anyone can verify
that fact, which makes your attempt at deception both shameless and stupid. I
really don't see why anyone should listen to a word you say.
Marsha said:
I was referring to Arlo's statement in the same paragraph: "For her, both the
meditating Buddhist and the proto-human primate without language are in the
same state of bliss, that is torn away when language enters."
dmb says:
Okay, so you're sticking with the assertion that language is a kind of prison.
And, clearly, that characterization would count as a condemnation of language
in anyone's book. But Arlo's statement only describes the consequences of the
assertion you're NOT denying. The proto-human has not yet achieved this prison
and the Buddhist meditator seeks escape from this prison. Either way, they are
free of language.
Maybe you don't understand the consequences of this prison view, but its very
sloppy thinking AT BEST, to affirm the view and deny its consequences. I think
it only shows that you don't understand what you're saying. You never seem to
understand the implications of what you're saying. It's a vacuous, nihilistic
nightmare in which all concepts are inherently misleading and all meaning is
construed as a form of evil. This view is ugly, confused, world-hating
nonsense. And your apathetic new-age gibberish has nothing to do with Pirsig's
MOQ. That's just your own lazy, cynical attitude spoiling a perfectly pragmatic
set of ideas.
