Hi, Dan Glover -
Welcome back!
Thanks so. I've been thinking about you guys - is this related to the list
LC is drawn from? (My books are in many boxes.)
no one here knows the totality of Robert Pirsig's thoughts. All we know is
what he's written in his two books and his subsequent writings.
Is there a total bibliography somewhere? Bob may be a Arturo Benedetti
Michelangeli of the pen - a master with a deeply restricted repertory. Is he
still writing? Last I saw was his '95 writing on QM, and of course I
listened to the British interview when it came out. Is the DVD good?
I have the feeling there's a lot more where the two books came from ... any
rumors of, like Camille Paglia, a masterwork on index cards or in a box
somewhere?
And this is an intellectual discussion (is it not?) so I am unsure what
(or if) you are criticizing.
I was more ... wondering. We know from brain experiments that people cut off
from emotion - affective energy - can still think, but they suffer from an
inability to decide. Path-preference starts to dissipate. Things become
undecidable. (Is this not one of the malaise of our times? From Godel to the
present-day neurosis.) Surely ZAMM is a book of enormous passion.
You should post a link (I already checked out your website
[http://www.fuguewriter.com/books/she/] but others might be curious).
Thank you - but the last thing I would want to do is spam a mailing list I
just joined! The book is still up there on Kindle for $9.99. If anyone's
interested, I'd be happy to send a gratis hardcopy. Just toss me a note
off-list with a snailmail address and I'll get to it. (Proviso: I can't
send out hundreds and hundreds!)
