Hi Joe, I am trying to stick within MoQ. Pirsig divides Quality into DQ and sq. Sq is fabricated by our senses and can be considered as an apparition of DQ. In my way of looking at things, an apparition is PHONEY, not REAL. I am not using it as an adjective, I am using it as direct word substitution.
I do not know why you keep defining DQ as indefinable. It is defined as Dynamic Quality. Each of those words have definitions in the dictionary, and so on. My guess is that you are using the word indefinable in a different way and not as a tool for communication. Could you please define indefinable for me? I think the appropriate word may be ineffable. If you are misdirecting the reader with saying that DQ is True or False, I would ask you: Is Beauty TRUE or FALSE? Beauty is of course one expression of Quality. Definitions are are constructs for use in the Social Level for the purposes of communication. Definitions can be seen as simple analogies. They are another way of saying the same thing. If I define a river as a large flowing body of water which results from evaporation and condensation of water on land and follows the easiest route to the lowest level as defined by gravity, I have not said anything more, but just changed words for the same thing. We have plenty of analogies for DQ. As I have said before, defining something leaves most of it out. I cannot think of enough words to completely define "river".
