Hi Joe, The way I see it is that focussing attention is like viewing the world through a pair of binoculars. If we walked around seeing things with such binoculars, we would miss most of what is around us. Of course such focussing is important at times tasks need to be done, but outside of that such focussing leaves a lot out.
It would seem that for survival we need focussing else-wise we would cling to DQ, which is impossible. However, there are times when I am out on a boat with no worries, when I prefer not to focus. Awareness is much more than the brain focusses on. In fact such focussing can result in certain neuroses, and distract one from the beauty around us.
