In my opinion, DQ is used as part of MoQ, numbers are used as part of
physics.  Both can only be relationally defined.  Both are the same
principle, that is they seek to describe reality.  All of these things are
knowable, mathematics has an advantage in that it is taught in school as a
reality.  However, it is no more a reality than MoQ is.  It is just more
accepted.  When we accept physics, we form an agreement.  This is our
choice, and we can choose not to.  Unfortunately we will be labeled as
insane and it will be difficult to function in a "sane" social environment.
 here is therefore great social pressure to accept physics.  If the same
pressure (from birth) were used to teach MoQ, that too would become an
accepted reality, and we would not consider it to be somehow "outside".
 Pirsig has a few things to say about insanity and its relationship to the
social level.
