Arlo said to dmb:
Some days I don't know where you continue to find the gumption, DMB. Have a
great presentation at Montana State Univeristy's Pirsig Conference next month.
I am sure the dialogue there will be very high Quality (maybe a pleasant change
for you?), in part because of the knowledge and insight into Pirsig's ideas you
will bring.
dmb says:
Thanks, Arlo. And yes, I imagine it will be quite refreshing to talk at length
with folks who appreciate Pirsig's work. I expect to get my gumption batteries
fully charged. Thanks to Anthony, I'll have the privilege of presenting on the
first night along with a philosophy student, a philosophy professor, an English
professor and the University's President. Tina DeWeese is cooking up some
casual fun for a bunch of us too. We haven't met yet, but Lee Glover and I will
probably be hanging out afterward.
Arlo continued:
Please tell Lee Glover to consider making her film available on-line following
the conference, it sounds fascinating. In fact, please ask to the event
organizers to consider posting information and materials from all the
presentations online post-conference.
dmb says:
Lee's film will be presented as part of the "Pirsig Pilgrim" sessions on the
second day. (I think Lee is a he.) I haven't seen it yet, but based on this
arrangement I'd guess his film is focused on the motorcycle trip.
I heard some rumors about shooting a documentary of the Pirsig events and maybe
a PBS crew from the local public TV station. I think it'll okay for me to post
a transcript of my own talk regardless of what the University does and I
imagine that MSU would want to make everything available but that's just a
guess.
Wish you were on the roster, Arlo. I'd like to hear that talk and have a beer
afterward too. If it weren't for the budget restraints,..
